"Admit you're attracted to her."
B'Elanna Torres squirmed uncomfortably as she was held captive in her lover's embrace.
"Conflict can come from any number of
sources," Kathryn Janeway continued in her best, most reasonable captain's voice. "Don't dismiss the possibility that you find Seven attractive and the antagonism between you is just your way of handling the
situation."
"Explain it that way if you want," Torres growled. "Forward, arrogant, rude.... Gods Kathryn! How could *anyone* find that sexy!?"
"I think you do," the captain replied and braced herself for B'Elanna's vehement denial.
Janeway was thrown off guard by her lover's sudden silence. Keeping her breathing steady was a chore as
she speculated what might be going through B'Elanna's mind. Leave it to the unpredictable, sometimes exasperating chief engineer to figure it out at the last minute...
"Maybe you have a point,"
B'Elanna abruptly conceded and Janeway's heart suddenly beat erratically. "Now that I think about it...." Oh it can't be this easy, Kathryn mused, wary of Torres' sudden acquiescence. Perhaps
there really *is* something between the two of them, was her next panicked thought.
Quitting now was not an option. Resting a hand on that firm, brown stomach then caressing with intent, Janeway said,
"See: it isn't such an impossible idea, is it?"
Torres laughed softly. "Ulterior motives, Kathryn?"
Vexed that she had been so transparent, the captain tried evasion. "What do you mean?"
"Exactly this," B'Elanna nodded sagely, hiding her mirth. "You're the one who wants her."
Zeroed in on me effortlessly, Janeway thought with a mixture of annoyance and amusement, as B'Elanna rolled onto her and kissed her soundly.
